Margaret Report 7 Oct 2016 10:06

Hi - I have Leslie Reddick born 1921 Coventry, the son of Robert and Lily Reddick. Leslie married a Beatrice Manning in 1946, Kettering, Northants. They had no children in the UK and emigrated to Australia. Unfortunately this is all I have. I do not know what year they emigrated, where they departed from and what area of Australia they went to. Any information regarding this couple would be very welcome. Thank you

They aren't showing on any passenger lists . Maybe they didn't emigrate by sea

Thank you Dea That narrows the timescale down a bit. Interesting though that although marrying in 1946 they had no children in uk by 1954.

Chris Ho - thank you for that. On this basis I tried the ryerson index for wife Beatrice and found a Beatrice Adelaide Reddick - death notice 2000 in the same newspaper 'Herald Sun' Melbourne. So looks as if they emigrated to the Melbourne area. I wonder if they had any children out there ?

There are other Reddick's listed on the same site but not, as far as can be seen, buried in the same plot.

If this is the same undertakers who arranged Leslie's funeral, they have a website & a 'contact us' link
http://www.bereavementassistance.org.au/our-funeral-services/

They won't be able to give full details of the person who made the arrangements, but might be able to pass on a message on your behalf.

The same applies to the Cemetery. Although not necessarily relevant, an enquiry did say who collected the Ashes but wouldn't divulge her address

Alternatively, or as well as, you could contact the Victorian Find a Librarian service and ask for details of both Beatrice's and Leslie's death notice.

If you're lucky they might either give relatives names, or a care home where they last lived.

Thank you Detective. I will have a good lopok at the information you have put up. Sorry for the delay but for the last hour or so I have been battling with Aviva trying to sort out some matters with them. Not the easiest company to deal with from the orgasnisation point of view !!

Thank you for that malyon - I hadn't noticed that. I will confer with a ik family member if their Leslie actually worked for the post office because if not, then that cancels out Leslie still being in uk in 1954. Thanks again.
