I've sent Elizabeth a pm trying to explain again, asking that if she's still having difficulties, if she sends me the person's name I'll take a look.

The results will be written something like this:

JONES ELIZABETH 23 March 2004 1464117 01 January 1998 Grant only Manchester

or this:

JONES FRANK 18 March 1998 9851108871 01 January 1998 Grant and will London

The probate service hold details for Grant & Wills from 1996 to present (there is a search facility for earlier records 1858-1996)

If you add the name of the person (if that's OK) someone may be able to help you

This is c/p from the screen you see at the probate site

There was definitely a will it never mentioned a grant only or grant & will
it just says copied of this grant are not valid unless they bear the impressed seal of the cours

whatever that means

AustinQ

AustinQ Report 28 Sep 2016 06:18

But did the entry in the Will Calendar here https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills say "Grant & Will" or just "Grant Only"?

Are you certain there is a Will

Elizabeth

Elizabeth Report 28 Sep 2016 05:50

It just said copies of the grant are not valid unless they bear the impressed seal of the court
in the high Court of Justice principal registry of the family division

then name and address of deceased d.o.d it was granted to the executor and her name

no download

You can order a copy of the will cost £10 it will be made available online for a set amount of time( can't remember but think it was for 10 days ) so copy / print a copy off
I have just done this for a will of 1924 and it is the actual image of the will

Edit just as a matter of interest for me I tried looking for my husbands will I did the probate in jan 2016 ,and it came up . So the records are up to date on that site

You can order them on-line here (If there was a Will)- just enter surname and year to search:

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

I think cost is around £10.

Gwyn in Kent Report 21 Sep 2016 03:43

Do you mean in UK?

If so, I don't think there will be anything on line from that date, but information could be obtained from one of the probate registries and a copy ordered from them, if a Will exists.
