Tree on Ancestry is mixed up I think. Allen R Gowling's father is called John H Gowling and was a Railway Station worker.

The date of birth is correct for Allen R. But I know people can get wrong information on trees!! :-S

Also Gladys Smith is sometimes called by either name. Stowell Smith apparently was her father's name but on 1911 census it's not the same?

But- there is this birth- a possible sibling (which may confirm the 1911 census as there were Harding in-laws with them)
