I went to the GRO this morning but due to a problem with their server, all bookings were cancelled.. Grrr
They told me that it happened on Tues and Wed of last week too and I got the last slot because all of the previous people rebooked for today too.
They were not happy!

I didn't rebook due to other commitments this week but, I will probably try again next week

It's no bother to check it out whilst I'm there Julie.
It involves just a couple of simple searches which will confirm the above findings re birth and marriage .
Unless they were making a return trip, it seems they may have emigrated in later life so locating Scots born children should be straightforward.

Glasgowlass all this is going on something my great uncle told my dad and as he is no longer with us i cant confirm. All i know for definite is his name was Robert Potter and his parents were John Potter and Flora McLachlan he was the brother of my great grandad Andrew Potter

So really anything on him would be great !!!!!!!!¡

I will look at the 1894 birth for Robert, the 1895 birth for Sarah and at the 1918 marriage to confirm .
