Re Austin's post .......
-------
William Jordan, an Army Private stationed at Plymouth, who married in 1928, was given custody of 7 children of the marriage. Defended petitions will be heard this morning.
-------

I looked at the image on FMP ....... that is all it does say.

the next bit "Defended petitions will be heard this morning." indicated that it was the end of Undefended actions, and had no relation to William's custody hearing

The above cannot be the correct man as he was born 1918c so couldn't have married in 1928

There are several possible leads in the newspaper section of Search (top right of screen), but I don't have full access.

I'm sure someone else will look further for you though.

There seems to be children born up to 1941.

Do you have a birth year for either of them?

It's unlikely you will I,m afraid not many have survived or made available on the internet

This from the National archive website

divorce case files is:

1858-1927: almost 100%
1928-1937: 80%
After 1937: less than 0.2%
Before 1858, a full divorce required a private act of Parliament so the opportunity was only available to a few people.

Hi,
I am looking for any divorce records for a William Jordan and a Bessie Moss.
Their marriage took place in Newton Abbot, Devon in Sept1928.

Bessie remarried in Oct 1942 in Okehampton Devon to a William James Shepherd so the divorce was between these dates !!!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be great, i have looked but can't find anything.

Thanks,
Sally
