George - Findmypast are giving free access to Military Records until 4 July.
If you haven't already, take out a free membership to access them. Henry/Harry's WW1 records are also listed on there.

As it happens, Ancestry are also giving free access. Both may require you to take out a 14 trial. By sure to cancel before the dates are up.

The record for the head of the house has been blanked out on the image but I'm guessing its 'Harry'

MISSING.
Missing: since April 13th, Private Harry Thompson, Coldsteam Guards. lnformation Mrs Thompson, 3, Frederick's-building's, Hill street, Hull. (South Ferriby), East Yorks. Regt. officially reported missing. He has been wounded once. One other brother has been killed, and two others are serving their Country.

The Records for the Coldstream Guards are held at Wellington Barracks in London. For a fee of £33 volunteer archivists may be able to find his pre 1916

If its the correct person, the images for his WW1 service are on Ancestry & Findmypast. Although its possible to someone to download and forward to you by email, you might want to check with your friend first.

If you are able to visit a Library in the UK, you might find that you can access the site via their membershiip

Briefly, the images say that he entered the Coldstream Guards aged 17 and was now Time Elapsed. He was now aged 36 yrs and 5 months & rejoined on 2 Aug 1916
The dob of the children, all born in Hull are
Harry 12.11.1908 (by a first wife or born outside of wedlock?)
Charles 20.3.1911
Lilian 14.6.1914
George William 28.1.1917
……….
He passed the 2nd Class Signallers instruction course on 10 Jan 1917
Oh! He was listed as a POW on 14 Apr 1918 & released under the terms of the Armistice on 11 Nov 1918 arriving back in Dover on 22 Nov 1918. He was transferred to the Reserves on demobilisation on 2 May 1919 A note says that he was discharged 27 May 1919 having re-enlisted into the Labour Corps
He enlisted into the Labour Corps on 28 May 1919 giving his dob of 29 Mar 1880. He was finally discharged on 24 Sep 1920 although the paper work is dated 4 Nov 1920.
Harry was classified as permanently disabled – gun shot wound to the head due to A.S (no idea what that means)
The contact address at this point was 3 Fredericks Buildings, Hill Street, Hull

He received the British War medal and the Victory medal which were sent to him on 8 Apr 1922. Acknowledged receipt on 12 Apr 1922

Please can anyone help. A friend of mine has asked me if I could find her grandfathers War record. His name is Henry (Harry) Thompson Born 1881 The address she's got is Hill Street Hull He was in the Coldstream Guards and dose not have his Army No. Any help appreciated Thank You
