Hi, looking at all this, I think the marriage with Mary Higginbotham looks promising, she's 24 at marriage in 1867 and 27 in 1871 census. I will have to send for Hannah's birth certificate and check from there.

I don't know if he was married twice, am struggling with very little information on this as the original information given put me on the wrong track, it's only just now I have got the marriage certificate for Hannah Holmes and Samuel Eaton that I discovered I had been wrong with my original information!!

Could some-one please have a look for James Holmes in the 1841/51 census, I have him in 1871 - 39 year old Coal Miner born in Darley Dale, wife Mary and 2 children William and Hannah,both born in Clay Cross Derby. I've got him in 1881 and 1891, but can't find him in the earlier ones where I'm hoping to find him with parents and siblings if possible.
