Gibson Ellwood b1786 Cumberland England, left UK in 1851 for USA. Did he leave with family?

Did he come back to UK?? I have found on another family tree that he died 1863 UK.

There is this one in the 1860 US census. Original reads Gibson. But it says born Scotland. He's a farm hand

There are no Margaret Ellwood (or variations ) coming up as deaths but in Scotland married women often known by maiden name so possible deaths for a Margaret Duncan in Renfrewshire between 1841-1851

Use other people's trees on the net as guide, but, unless they have documented proof about an event, then always check information and prove it yourself !! There are so many trees out there on Ancestry for example, that have grandchildren born before the grandparents, deaths of spouses before they married etc etc. And they just get copied and copied. So many things get bent to make them fit!

Daughters named in Will are Margaret(wife of William C.....th), Ann(wife of James D.....le) and Elizabeth(wife of George Mckenzie)

I know Margaret married William Carruth. Lots of references to them in google search. He is mentioned in "Pioneers and Prominent men of Utah".

Maybe Gibson had a bit of money to bequeath. He himself was bequeathed money in 1859 by a cousin John Ellwood of Dufton Westmorland England.
