Margaret .............

what do you want to know about them??

Their descendants, or their ancestors??

It does help if you tell us exactly what you are looking for rather than the the rather vague request you've made!

Deaths Jun 1892 (>99%)
Davies Samuel 34 W. Derby 8b 418

As son William Davies was born 1900, per 1901 census, in theory Samuel shouldn't have died until 1899-1900, but I don't see his death then.

Of course he could be another man's child, but still have his mother's surname if she hadn't remarried - as she clearly hadn't.

Similarly, son George.

(Wild guess - maybe son of George Parkinson, the boarder in 1901 ??)

PM from Margaret - I'll advise her to reply on here. (And the "Answered" trap strikes again!)

hello,
it looks like you and I are thinking the same thing. The dates of birth for the younger children is one of the things confusing me. I know the date of date for Samual is correct from the parish records.Maybe your suggestion is right about the boarder,If i find out I will let you know.
Thanks Margaret.

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Mar 2016 18:31

I got a similar pm for Margaret, saying that she really wanted to know if Jane had married again, although she is noted as Widow in 1911.

I also made the suggestion that any child born to a married woman is deemed to be the child of her husband unless she states otherwise. And that this applies even if he has been dead for a number of years. After all, her married name IS her legal surname.

Another possibility to consider is that at least 1 of the youngest children might be the child of one of Jane's older, unmarried daughters ......... it is far from unknown for parents to raise such children as their own.

Margaret ............

in future, will you please respond on the thread, then we can all see where we are.
