I am so confused unless his mother remarried and married her brother in law that's one thought I've had

Still doesn't explain where the WIlliam Edward came from though! The fact that the witness has a Day connection and that her step father is a plasterer is surely all connected.

Seems funny that Charlotte has a 'Day' connection, but not sure how it links to Father of Albert Edward, William Edward... need to see Henry Day 1901...

Bit of a jigsaw this one!.

Linda Report 10 Mar 2016 18:18

Thank you I knew that all the family moved from Ealing to Southend on Sea in the early 20s that's something else I have to look into why the whole family moved even the married ones bar one son who remained

in Ealing, my dad was born in southend but then my grandparents moved back to Ealing.

I know that May Day died in Leigh on Sea in April 1960 and although Albert was still alive her sister registered her death but cant find out anything about Albert

He's also the right age to be in the services in WW1, but I couldn't determine if any of the Albert Edward or Albert E's were him

Are there any family stories about him being in the services???

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Mar 2016 03:45

being at the same address only means that they used a white lie to avoid having to have the Banns called in two parishes, thus costing more money!

He might have stayed there for the 4 weeks (3 Banns and the marriage), he might only have left a suitcase there, or he might have been a visitor on one or two nights.

It doesn't necessarily mean that he was actually living at that house.

It was a very common little subterfuge!

But what it does mean, is that we have no idea where he is from!

Linda

Linda Report 10 Mar 2016 01:42

Yes I've got their marriage certificate none of the Days apart from his father is on it and has I said he put he was living at the same address as the bride

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Mar 2016 01:19

Albert Edward Day, Bachelor, Engineer

William Edward Day, Plasterer, Father

oh .....

what was Albert's occupation?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Mar 2016 01:05

so ............

if he was 22 on the certificate, then he was born ca 1892 IF he told the truth?

and we assume he was telling the truth about his father?

Who were the witnesses?? Any clues there?
