Does anybody have access to the register?

The main library for the area may hold historical ERs

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 25 Feb 2016 13:20

Ancestry had London ER to 1965 which covers Newham. Not every year is covered.
Edit - the card catalogue says Newham is covered every year to 1960, split between Woolwich to 1955 then Woolwich East & West.

Although ER books are normally only searchable by address, the Ancestry data base is arranged by surname.

Do you have a name you want found, or was it the residents at a particular address? Remember that voters had to be 21 or over.

I am looking for an Iris Lilian Wood, she would have been over 21. She should be living in West Ham or Stratford.

Having looked for her on Ancestry, it seems that Stratford/West Ham aren't included.

There is an Iris Lilian Wood but not in those areas. She was living in 303 Lower Rd Bermondsey - too far even considering boundary changes.

It always seems to confusing as people will say that West Ham was in Middlesex at the time.. So was Edmonton (N London) which is included in the *London* data base.

If you already have an address, then Dame*Shelly*("\(*o*)/") suggestion to conact Newham Archives is the best bet. Without an address you could be wading through the Registers for weeks.

Dame*Shelly*("\(*o*)/") Report 26 Feb 2016 22:04

Living at this address with her is
William Charles Wood

Name: Iris Lilian Wood
Year: 1938
County or Borough: Southwark
Ward or Division/Constituency: Bermondsey
Street address: 59 RAYMOUTH ROAD-Confrf

Bermondsey is only up the road
well only 5 stops on the tub from Stratford
and about 30 min by car

Stratford is East London and Bermondsey is South London
