Having traced my own Marrison family back to Finningley Yorks 1528, I now find a group of "Norfolk Marrisons" who are suggesting that their own ancestors have come from Aberdeenshire. Namely Ferderick Marrison born 1835, and Benjamin Marrison born 1796. Have been unsuccessful in finding ANY Marrisons anywhere up here . Having lived up here for 30 years have only ever come across the names Morris or Morrison which are purported to have Scottish roots . Can anyone help ?

Thanks in anticipation
Anne

Baptisms of the Norfolk Marrisons listed in the 1841 above can be found on Family Search. Some have images and some transcribed as Morrison.

Thomas was baptised 1825 and John 1823.

Ages over 15 were meant to be rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5, hence Thomas c15/16 and John c 16/17 would both appear on census as 15.

Parents listed as Benjamin Marrison and Susan/Susanna/Susannah Chambers. Benjamin is a Plumber/Glazier

The 1841 census appears to show a tick for Benjamin as born in Scotland, Ireland or Foreign place. Unfortunately he has died by 1851, when the rest of the family are shown as born Norfolk.

Benjamin and Susannah Chambers married 31.5.1818 parish of St Helens, Norwich - image on Family Search
