Find Ancestors

Hi I wonder if anybody can help. I am struggling to find my late Nan's baptism and birth details online. She was born Circa 1920 in Pemberton Lancs. Her father was Albert Atherton but he died when she was still a young child. Her mum remarried an Edward Evans. Albert and Edward both lived in the Pemberton area. Her mum was Esther (Nee Foster) and later Esther Atherton and Esther Evans.

I'm not sue who would be listed as her Father on the baptism record or her birth details. I'm guessing she would have been baptized at St John's in Pemberton.


Any birth or baptism details would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I wonder about the one with the mothers maiden name as atherton

Thanks yes the Albert Atherton and Esther Foster in 1920 looks like her Mum and Dad's wedding.

Just trying to find my Nan's birth record or baptism record to see what it says. I always thought she would have been baptised Marion Atherton. She later married and became Marion Bowles. She was always called Mari. Or maybe I am wrong and she was babtised Marie and not Marion? But i always thought it was marion. She had a step sister who was also named Marion. She was the daughter of edward evans and Esther.

Ah I've found her name on the registration of births for April, May, June 1924

It has her mother's maiden name as Foster. It doesn't mention the father. It is page 79 of the register so I'm guessing it was around April. Still struggling to find her baptism details.

maybe she wasn't baptised, I think you will have to invest in the certificate

Hi Maddie. Yes that's my great grandad. He died really young and my Nan would never live to remember him :(

His family history is fascinating. he was a lay preacher in Newtown from what I have heard and died of Diabetes I think, although I've been told all kinds of things. He was a conscientious objector during WW1 and I don't think he was treated very well afterwards. I know they put him in prison because of his beliefs at some point.
