There IS this birth in Sussex?

Births Mar 1909 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISARD Mary Elizabeth / Lewes / 2b 136

Which fits age at death for this Mary on Ryerson Index, place is a neat match:
BENNETT Mary Elizabeth
Death notice
02FEB1993 Death [aged] 84, late of Marayong
Sydney Morning Herald 06FEB1993

BENNETT Donald George
Death notice
22SEP1983 Death [aged] 66, late of Marayong
Sydney Morning Herald
24SEP1983

I'd suggest this is the Joseph in this case - d. 1951 aged 90, Marayong NSW:

Births Sep 1861 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISARD Joseph / Lewes / 2b 139

This Joseph can be found on the 1871 Census in Newick, Sussex aged 9 with his parents John & Sarah Ann and several siblings. Is he part of your tree, Robert??

Marriage of Joseph ISARD to Florence BARTON took place in NSW - so it is either a different Joseph or they returned to the UK for a while and then back to NSW in 1909?

Robert

The 'NSW BMD' (on-line) has only 1 mention of a Joseph Isard -

a death in 1951 ...(Reg 27657/1951) .parents John & Sarah Ann.

You could obtain a copy of certificate -they generally give lots of info. (a 'transcription agent' (shown on BMD site) charges smaller fee).
