	You are right Rootgatherer - Salford IS near Manchester and that is probably the correct Winifred but something doesn't 'sit quite right' for me with that one. Dea x

	Catherine - about your soldier Frank Conway born c 1863. According to his army records his father was John, mother - Winifred. He had siblings Peter, John E?, Katherine, Winfred, Mary + Margaret. I can't see him on 1871 with his family. He was still alive and single up until at least 1893. Dea x
