I am looking for information on Ada M. Wood bn 1885/6 bn or her parents.

Ada married John Rawlinson Storey bn 1886 Workington, Cumberland, England.
in 1916, Workington.

I don't think they had any siblings.

You might have to buy their marriage certificate (£9.25 including post and handling, from GRO) in order to find the name of Ada's father ............. Ada M Wood is not an uncommon name!!

Using John's birth date, he appears to be on the 1939 register in Grimsby (if it's the correct person) with a Helena P Storey.

How sure are you about her YOB or her maiden name? She would have been 31/2 in 1916, old enough to have been married before. If you don't already have it, the marriage cert will certainly help.

the main question is whether Ada and John had children, to see what the mother's name is on the records

if it is not Wood, then she had been married before and her surname on the child's birth record would be her own birth surname

of the several Wood-Storey births around the right time period, none jumps out as being to a couple married 1916 in Workington, and all seem accounted for by other marriages

looks like the marriage certificate really is needed, unless you know of children
