JC - re: "death records are not accessible for 2010"

This is not quite true.
If you know which rego office holds the death rego, then you can search their local indexes in person - mind you, it costs 18 quid, but maybe this is offset against any purchases you make - I've never done this (I live 8000km from Devon) - Durham has a brief description of the process - see:

it may just be retirement living

you could write and ask to be put in touch with next of kin or someone who arranged for cremation/burial, if they have a record

for example

http://www.housingcare.org/pet-friendly-homes/area-3-1231-seaton-devon.aspx

death records are not accessible for 2010

Hi Shirley, Thanks very much for this. It is certainly worth checking out. Just Googled the address & it looks like it could be sheltered accommodation. Is there any way of checking for death records from 2010? Carol

Her mother was Kathleen Mary French (born Sept 1926, in Battle, Sussex). She was only 17 when Valerie was born. Kathleen did go on to marry George Every (& had another child Carol) but Valerie never lived with Kathleen, which makes me think she was either adopted or fostered. Carol Every (now Barker) knew of Valerie's existence but never met her or knew anything about her. Kathleen passed away in 2010.

Hi, I am trying to find out any information about Valerie A French, born December 1943 in Honiton, Devon. Her mother was Kathleen Mary French & unknown father. I believe Valerie may have been fostered or adopted but I can't find any information at all about her!
Many thanks.
Carol :-)
