I have 2 Joseph Dwight's in my tree The Joseph in the subject line's father and mother were James Dwight 1785 m. 1811 Sophia Cock 1794 They had 7 children that I have identified. The other Joseph was born 1826 to William Dwight 1780 and Elizabeth Jordan could anybody help in unravelling this dilemma. It seems that this Joseph was married to Mary Ann Pritchard did they have any children/ :-(

The only marriage I can find is the one I have given but the Father is Richard Dwight and the age of that Joseph is 25 born c 1834.

Thanks for your input Joseph Dwight and Mary Ann Pritchard from what I could find were married in Hendon Volume 3a. Page 89 Joseph b.Buckinghamshire not sure where Mary Ann was born Chris if Joseph was b 1840 who were his parents :-)

... what does that mean? how do you relate to him?

seems to be incorrect as the Joseph who married Pritchard had father Richard, according to the marriage record, and was much younger, according to the marriage record and censuses


for children of William and Elizabeth, familysearch.org shows

Charlotte 1815 Chesham
there is also a Mary 1820 Chesham no parents shown

they married in 1808 so of course they likely had earlier and/or later children not shown there

in that thread, jax posted the 1861 census for a Joseph and Mary couple in Chesham who actually look like Joseph Dwight and Mary Darvell, going by the ages of the children, for an 1854 marriage

Lydia Langstone that I have but in the 1851 census Richard was absent and the children I could find were Ann 1830 George 1834 then initials H1839 daughter and E daughter 1842 In 11861 it shows Richard 50 Lydia 49 with a son Richard 10 no sign of Joseph unless it is in another record that I have not been able to access
