I am researching my daughter in law's family and have come upon a problem. Edward Sampson was born in July 1904 in South Molton Devon and is on 1911 census as an adopted child with a family called Squires. He still has his original surname. Other than ordering a birth certificate is there any way I can find out the names of his birth parents. Edward was married in 1931 in Bromley to Doris Hughes and he died in 1979 in Ashford, Kent.
