Long shot I know, but I am trying to push this line further back if possible and if anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Here's what I have so far

Samuel Drake b1726 Devon
married Elizabeth Braddick in 1746 (St Stephen's Church Exeter)
Children:
Elizabeth Drake B: 1749
Mary Drake B: 1751
Francis Drake B: 1754
Sarah Drake B: 1762
Ann Drake B: 1764
Ann Drake B: 1765

I have an inkling that his father is Thomas but thats all. I know its pre-census but if anyone has any information then it would be very much appreciated.

I do however note that several Public Family Trees on ancestry have a definite birth date for him, but also say father is George Drake, mother Joan Pyle

One tree cites the Devon: Barnstaple - Parish Register, 1538-1812 as source

findmypast Devon parish baptisms shows these within the realm of possibility for a 1746 marriage

Samuel Drake — 1699 Anglican Henry Awliscombe
Samuel Drake — 1714 Anglican George Cruwys Morchard *
Samuel Drake — 1716 Anglican James Bovey Tracey
Samuel Drake — 1717 Anglican Henry Awliscombe *
Samuel Drake — 1726 Anglican Thomas Exeter, St Olave

the Exeter birth does seem likely but sometimes there is just no way to tell

I would say two of those can probably be ruled out by these marriages

Samuel Drake 1739 Agnes Cruwys Morchard
Samuel Drake 1743 Sarah Awliscombe

one of those has father George

Yes, the St Olave baptism gives me my inkling.
As for the trees with George as the father, the problem I have with that is that according to those trees George died 1701, a good 25 years before the birth of his apparent son Samuel. So I have ruled this out.
