What year was he born Patricia? There are a number of Samuel Turners who died WW1 on the CWGC website, so having his age and wife's name will help locate him for his service number.

Was he in the Army, Navy or other do you know?

Did he have any other initials?

Do you know who his parents were?

Are you sure he died in 1914? - as far as I can see, the Commonwealth War Graves site shows only 2 Samuel Turners who died 1914 both Soldiers. Neither would appear to be "yours" unless lived but not born in Salford.

On the Register of Soldiers' Effects for the Samuel Turner who died 8 March 1916 his back pay of £6 18s 9d went to his brother and sole legatee Ernest. His war gratuity of £9 went to his father Alfred.

I wouldn't say that was consistent with a married man as a widow would normally be the first beneficiary.

EDIT: - But having said that, I do see that there was a brother Ernest on the 1911 census above ........

Hello Patricia, so is that the correct family in the 1911 census that Dea posted above?

If so, then I think the 1916 death may be the correct one.

Hello Marie Celeste, yes that is the same family,my husband was obviously called after his uncle Frank,Maybe the family got the date of his death wrong but always believed his youngest son Francis never met him as he didn't come back after he was born 1913.Would love to find out more about his army career if possible ,thanks for all your help
