Thank you Lancashire Ann I never though of looking at it like that.

The good thing about asking questions on here is that other people can show you different ways of approaching things and ways of looking at things. Often they see things in a document that you have missed. These ideas often help develop new skills for doing family history.. So thank you everyone for all your help.

I hope this makes sense.

Happy Christmas

they are all described in the census as son or daughter in law.

As the ages mean that definition is not as we would use it now and I could not find any appropriate marriage I made the assumption of adopted.

Son in law was also sometimes used for step son so possibly for adopted as well

Charllotte Mum married Robert Splayfoot in Mar1860.

Christopher Robinson had a brother called William. A William married someone called Nancy and they had a son called John. A long shot I know and it really doesn't matter who John Robinson was. I was just being nosey.

Thanks for your help

Thanks LancashireAnn

How do you know they were adopted? I didn't think census gave you that information. I would never of thought of looking along those lines. Its certainly got me thinking. Thank you.

Lilian Robinson's father seems to be John Robinson

There is a John Robinson born Winterton, Lincs in c1853 who appears to have been possibly adopted in 1861 census

Charlotte Emma also born Winterton 1850 also seems to have been adopted in the 1861 census

So possibly Joh & Chalotte were brother and sister

oh thanks for that Londonbelle. . I think they were probably friends through his work. I can't find any links to the family

Rufus & Lilian Heath would have been Executors to Fred's Estate ie those administering the Estate so it doesn't necessarily mean that Jesse didn't inherit.

Jane

Jane Report 20 Dec 2015 06:52

Rufus Heath married Lilliam Robinson in Mar quarter 1913. so at the moment there doesn't seem to be a direct family link. So why would they inherit over his wife??.

Jane

Jessie Grays mother was Charlotte Emma Robinson so perhaps Lillian is connected to her in someway.

thanks LancashireAnn and Dea.

Now I have to find out who Rufus and Lilian Heath were. It seems strange that his wife didn;t get it..

Thanks for your help

You do have to remember that Ancestry trees can be very unreliable at times but at least it proves that there were two families at that time who Leslie could have belonged to and they have got his dob and marriage etc. so it does look likely that Leslie is not yours.

However, only the birth cert would confirm that as fact.

Jessie Gray and Fred are my family so that means Leslie isn't mine. Thanks for that. Jane

A tree on Ancestry attributes Leslie's birth in 1915 to this family:

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it Report 19 Dec 2015 09:28

If you find their marriage you will have her maiden name and can check if Leslie has the same mmn

On the face of it looks like she was maiden name gray as they have a brother in law living with them

Jane

Jane Report 19 Dec 2015 09:12

Thanks Dea.

So it looks like they had a lot of problems having children. There is a good chance that Leslie isn't thiers then.

All the best
