Why do you think that John & Jane as parents are incorrect?

Do you know the name of any of Alexander's siblings?

Alexander Gordon b. Q1 1869 Easington Lane, Durham (Reg. Houghton Le Spring).

Alexander married Mary Jane Burnside Q1 1890 (again Reg. (Houghton Le Spring)

They both appear on the 1891 census with son John (5mths). Alexander died in 1893 and Mary Jane later re-married.

I am trying to find the names of his parents without going to the expense of buying his birth certificate.

There are some family trees on Ancestry giving the names as John and Jane but I feel they are incorrect and people have just been following other peoples incorrect findings and adding to their trees.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards, Ian
