Help with Frederick A Garvan birth record please

I have been unable to find Frederick''s birth record. According to his death record in 1939 in Lewes, Sussex he was born in approximately 1919. He appears to be the first child of Walter James Garvan and Alice Dorothy Hall. I have found the birth records of all of his siblings. I believe he was born in Hampstead, London, but later children were born in Pancras or Hendon, London. There is a possibility that Frederick's father was not Walter. I can't find Walter nor Frederick in the 1911 census either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Ron

Born before marriage so had surname Hall. I'm having problems with FreeBMD now but I saw his birth 1918 Pancras surname Hall and mother's maiden name Hall.

Marriages Mar 1919 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Garvan Walter J Hall Pancras 1b 167
Hall Alice D Garvan Pancras 1b 167

Edit: Here it is:

Births Jun 1918 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hall Frederick A Hall Pancras 1b 95

Of course he wouldn't be on the 1911 census, wasn't born yet.

Margee you're wonderful. I'm such an idiot, especially as I said Walter may not have been his father.
Also, of course he wouldn't have been on 1911 census.
Thanks so much.

Why, thank you, Ron, it's not very often I'm called wonderful! Well, never, actually.

Incidentally a tree on Ancestry says that Frederick A. was born 1920 but it also shows Mabel born in 1920.

I'm afraid not Argyllgran. I don't know who Frederick's father was and I assume it won't be shown on the birth certificate. Presumably, when Frederick''s mother Alice Dorothy Hall then got married in March quarter 1919, Frederick used her husband''s (Walter James Garvan) surname. Frederick''s death record would support that assumption.

Margee, I've sent you a pm. Take care, Ron

Margee .........

the owner of that tree seems to have got Mabel's birth year from her birth registration, but Frederick's from his death registration

and death registrations are far from accurate in many cases, as we all know :-)

But it also indicates that he hadn't been able to find Frederick Garvan's birth registration ............. as you discovered

I saw that yesterday Potty and was wondering if it was Walter. Think this is him in 1939?
