they have children john 1877 alice 1885 florence 1888 and annie 1891.
Francis was born in sheffield

The Glaves are just listed as boarders. Francis is a table blade striker.
Next listing is Thomas & Elizabeth Glaves both 65. Thomas is a table blade forger. (Francis' parents?)

In view of the name 'Eyre' included in Alice's name, this little 'snippet' might also be of interest:


Thomas Eyre age 43 of Bridgehouses, Pye Bank was buried at St. George's, Portobello on 24 May 1840. He was a filesmith.

Between 1818 and 1828, the only marriage of Thomas Eyre to an Elizabeth at the Parish Church was between Dec. 1821 and May 1823 to Elizabeth Glaves. The reference number is R/232/695 (Book/Page/Entry no.). You can get a photocopy of the entry from Sheffield Archives. I'm sure they will send you copy, but I have no idea of their charge.

There are a couple of trees on Ancestry that show Francis' wife as Elizabeth Seeds but no proof of marriage.

Andy - you say there were 2 Francis Ferdinands born at that time in Sheffield - yes there were but the first one died soon after birth:

We really need the poster to come back with some info first as it doesn't look like Francis had any connection with Elizabeth Seeds so the info will not be neded.

Although that 1881 census you posted does have the 'Seeds' connection and the address fits in with the burials of Francis F Glaves' 2 young children !!
