Yes, it is possible. I would need to see the original record, to see if mothers name was entered. No proof, but I will definitely be looking into this .

Yes, I've just been reading about Amassa's transportation to Australia. A bit harsh if throwing his cap at a superior officer was all he did, still he seemed to make something of his later life.

His wife didn't remarry till 1860 so baby Emma could have been hers??

Alviegal,

I don't think he had a younger sister, as his mother Emma, was expecting Charles at the same time as his father was transported to Australia. She re married after 7 years.

Interesting though, it doesn't rule out that in the 7 years after Charles was born, his mother could have had an illegitimate child, and her name would have still been Hollingsworth.!!! Also the name Emma is significant.

Think I will have to delve into this a bit further. Sue

Alviegal,

Have just found his death record in Edmonton, which tallys up with his whereabouts in 1881. Seems, he was buried in his home village of Clavering, which you so helpfully found for me.

Thanks again, Sue

hopefully looking for help to find Charles Hollingsworth, b.1852 4Q Clavering, Essex. In 1871 he was a private soldier at Chatham Barracks, and in 1881, he was living in White Hart/Love Lane, Tottenham, occupation carman.
I cannot find any trace of him after this

I have his mother Emma Hollingsworth nee Rumbold and father Amassa Richard Hollingsworth, whom I have all the info., on. already. tks.

Thanks in advance, Sue
