1901 from FMP - unfortunately nothing more than England for pob of the children Mary A and Charles, nothing at all for William J.

John O'Donald is a Widower, he and the children are down as Boarders. And the original is O'Donald

Thanks Greyghost. There's quite a few Peter James O'Donnells in my tree and up until a few years ago, we weren't aware of John Thomas O'Donnell. I wish my grandfather & his brothers had spoken to each other, it would make things so much easier!

Have you got the generations/names mixed up - Charles parents listed here as John Thomas and ?Maria, not Peter and Mary.

The GRO birth registrations have their names in "English", it's the Catholic baptism records which show the Latin equivalent.

Trying to find either of their birth dates & their marriage date. I know they had 3 children - William b 1893 place unknown, Charles b 1895 in Chester & my grandfather Peter b 1897 also in Chester. I can't find them on the 1901 census. Peter's father was called John Thomas O'Donnell.

Mary Pilling is listed on Charles' (latin) birth certificate as Mary Pilling O'Connell but just as Mary Pilling on Peter's birth cert.

We're assuming that they were both born in Ireland and married there sometime before 1893 and that there eldest son Charles was also born there.

Family history has always said that 'we' come from Donegal but another darker family secret is that some of them had to flee Dublin in the 1850s due to an anti English protest/attack....

I feel I'm so close to finding the next generation in my tree but I just can't find out where William was born.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction & if I can help anyone I will

Thanks

Jeanette
