He may have died abroad, and his death record not be available online.

Or he may have died in the UK, but there are a few death records on Ancestry (for example) of men called Alfred H Wood, or just Alfred Wood, born 1892-3.
You would have to buy all the certs to find out if he was one of them - an expensive undertaking.

I am still looking i will need to chase up some of the info what i do know is on his m/navy id card his last ship was no 149647 on25.3.33
And compleated on 18.1 35
I can find no info after that anywere thanks again all info is helpful tha last ship he sailed on was cymbeline tanker as all the others gymeric narragansett cordella to name a few

After 1936 there are various records of an Alfred Wood, born c1891, 5'7" - but he's a steward - quite a jump up from a greaser, if it's the same person:
