Google brings up a lot about the Convent,

"• The Convent of Good Shephard Housed a reformation house for females (either prisoners or struggling) and burnt down only in the 1970’s. It was replaced by Bishop Douglas School and the Thomas Moor Estate. (The Elmhurst estate, also on East End Road) sits on the site of the old House of Elms)."

"The Order of the Good Shepherd moved to East End house in 1864, and in 1873 became a "reformatory" for former female prisoners. Much of the convent was burned down in 1972. Part of the grounds was redeveloped into Bishop Douglas School (1963), and Thomas More Estate (1980). There is a Victorian letterbox on the wall of the convent. Across the road is East Finchley Cemetery, opened by the St Marylebone Burial Board in 1855.

There is also this response to a query re the convent on another site "For information on surviving records you would have to contact the Catholic order of Sisters. The Westminster Catholic Diocesan archivist might be helpful and there is also the Catholic Family History Society."

Thanks for your replies. Yes I had seen the replies from my post in 2009. Will take a look into the 1961 death. Just wondered if anyone had any information on the Convent?

Thanks, I thought this was her but am sure that this Beatrice married to become a Reading. My Beatrice was born 19 May 1905. I have come across a Beatrice M Reading who married in 1949 to a Kenneth Abbott but unable to find a death that matches. She had 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Have managed to find out what happened to her siblings just not her but least I know where she was in 1939.
Thank you for your help.

Hi, I have found out from the 1939 register that my Great Aunt was an inmate there. I just wanted to know if there is anyway of finding out what happened to her. I have no death date for her. Is there anyone I can contact? Her name is Beatrice Maud Reading, born 1905.
Thanks
