Find Ancestors

Good afternoon.

I have an Elizabeth Charlotte Purdy (also sometimes shown as Charlotte Elizabeth Purdy) who married a Fredrick (also sometimes shown as Frederick) Hart in Lambeth in 1929. I have found them on the 1939 Register living at 3 Hotspur Street, Lambeth. Charlotte's date of birth is 6 June 1904 and Fredrick's is 21 November 1901. According to what I've found Charlotte was born in Ulverston Lancashire and Fredrick in Lambeth. I am trying to trace any information on this couple. I believe I have found Charlotte's death as being registered December 1988 in Swindon Wiltshire. This death comes up with the birth date being 6 June 1904. I haven't been able to find a death for Fredrick. Can anyone help please with this and any other information. I have them in my tree on Ancestry but am not 100% sure that the details I already have are correct.

Actually Fredrick shouldn't have been listed as age 10 on the 1911 census. He hadn't had his birthday yet so would only be 9.

This is the same family in 1901 and Fredrick hasnt been born yet.

Thank you very much for your time and help. Do you think it would be possible to find a death for Fredrick? If my death date for Charlotte Elizabeth is correct then not sure what she was doing in Wiltshire as the couple had previously lived in Lambeth. I have them living in 1965 at 16 Helston House, Kennings Way, Lambeth. Your continued help would be appreciated.

I just had a chuckle about the 1911 census. Fredrick's older sister Lillian is listed as an errant girl rather than errand girl!

Some of the old records are sent to try us. ie with names and obviously occupations. It just makes searching much more difficult.

As they lived in Lambeth this looks a possible

Possible for Frederick's death - if he was born November 1901, then the age of 64 could be correct. Ages can often be out anyway.

Why should you find Charlotte's death registered elsewhere? Could she have been visiting friends or relatives? Could she have moved after Frederick's death? Might she have been on holiday when she died?

Thank you all once again for your help and time spent. I did see that death in Lambeth, perhaps I should take a chance and send off for the death cert. Yes, I know what you're saying about Charlotte, people don't always stay around in the place they lived when a loved one passes on. Frederick was obviously alive in the early part of 1965 when he shows on the ER.

You could try contacting the Lambeth Register Office who MIGHT have a look at the death certificate for you. I found one of mine through Wandsworth RO, just saying it was a best guess on old family stories - away from home, "too young", was a teacher. Came up trumps confirming right death and only £10 for them to send instead of GRO.
(even better, when I checked Deceased online, she had been taken "home" for burial with family)
