Good point JoonieCloonie, but

just feel it is a possibility to explore. James Armstrong, who died in 1874 in Nelson,
New Zealand... trying to find when he went to NZ, wife and family who went too.

if that is your James Armstrong buried in the Anglican cemetery, one might think he was not an RC church trustee :-)

Thank you for information re WATCH THIS and also about referring to previous request.

Yes Elizabeth and John both had the same surname, Armstrong, before they married.

Have now learnt that whereas John came to NZ in 1841, don't know when James and wife and children came, but know a James Armstrong was trustee of first Catholic
Church in Nelson in 1846, so question is was it Elizabeth's father?

AustinQ can you give a source for the burial record you posted?

is it at any site where there is a searchable database for searching for other Armstrongs in the same cemetery for instance?

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GSiman=1&GScid=2179164&GSfn=&GSln=armstrong

James is not listed there

and there is no woman listed who would be the rightish age and is not buried with a husband

Oyster the point is that you already had a thread about this family and should have revived it by adding to it rather than starting a new one, since otherwise no one knows what info you gave or were given there

to clarify, Elizabeth was born Armstrong and married a man named Armstrong?

to answer my question, from NZ BMD:

1862/3975
Elizabeth Armstrong
John Armstrong

James died in Nelson 26 April 1874. I would like to find the name of his wife
and children, though know a daughter, Elizabeth, was born in 1820, and
married in Nelson so presume she went to NZ with parents and siblings.
