we have estimated that probably less than 1% of GR members look at the Boards, let alone post on them


I suggest that you search Member Trees, and see if names that you are interested in are on any other member's tree.

You then send a pm (private message) through the GR system to that member.

GR will send a message to that member's home email address to let them know someone wishes to contact them.

Then, all you have to do is hope that the member still has the same email address that is registered with GR.



To search trees, just go to Search on the top line

Click on Search All Trees.


To find out if a contact has read a message that you have sent to them, go to Messages (on the top row), click on Sent Messages.

If there is a green envelope to the left of a contact's name, the message has not been opened

If there is no green envelope showing, the message has been opened but the contact has not yet replied to you

If there is a green arrow showing, the contact has replied to your message.

Hi Jenny I believe I answered a query of yours some time back on the GR facebook page, two other people on here have Stanley Thorley in their trees if you go to Search at top of page.

It's very unlikely someone will say yes we/I am

If you have a specific family you are looking for then info on them with names and dates will be a help if you are looking for help to find more
