Links to the Catholic Childrens Society if you think the religion is relevant. Their website does include a timeline showing they were active since before the 1900 s

Can't make the advanced search on here work but there is a previous thread on here with more info which will prove useful to anyone trying to help - can you please post a link to it so others can see the info already found.

The family was told the child apparently went to ireland. The sister of the mother chose the child a very pretty white lacey dress she was taken somewhere a photo was taken and an irish family chose her from a photo.

They had contact a few months on saying she was doing well and they had renamed her Clodaugh but there was no surname or forwarding address.

Child was born out of wedlock and to a married man and the mother of the person who had the child forced her to give the child up

Children were sent to both Canada and Australia - search for Home Children and the name of the country.
What makes you think the child was 'picked' from a photo?

Hello all

adoption in the 30s in london in particular clapton, hackney does anyone know of any agencies involved in adoption and children being taken to other countries. In particular agencies that used a choose from a photograph method? I already know its not a legalised adoption in the uk and have had this confirmed by the GRO and the birth certificate does not state Adopted. But im now focusing on agencies that would of or could of been involved as must of been one for this photograph choice method being used. Child was taken to Ireland. I have applied to the irish authorities for a search to be done there as i am told its possible a legal adoption could of took place there but thats not a guarantee so want to try every avenue i can here. There is no record of this person in the UK at all except her birth. I have appealed for help with this family before but its help and advice needed on adoption in 1930 and agencies and any avenues i can try for any information
