I now have a copy of the marriage certificate for Arthur Jackson dated 19th October 1946 Hollingworth Cheshire and his occupation is also Hand Engraver so looks like he had a long career of this until at least 1963. as previously stated Thanks. Kind Regards Pam

It might still be worth asking the local archivists/librarians if they've heard of him. If he's unknown, they may be willing to do some research on your behalf. They will probably make a charge. They may know of possible employers in the area.

Another alternative would be to purchase any certificates where his occupation would be named. Obviously his own death certificate, and his marriage certificate and the birth Certs of any children, if that is relevant.

If he did have children, have you made contact with them? They are probably in the best position to be able to tell you. Siblings? Nephews/nieces or grandchildren?

Was his occupation from a certificate in your possession, or something else?

Have you tried looking for adverts in local papers in the area? You may have to track down where they are held and search for yourself. Try the nearest Archive or Local Studies centre.

The only on-line reference is for a Arthur Jackson Hepworth, known as Arthur Jackson, 1911-2003.

Please can anyone help with locating any reference to Arthur Jackson Hand Engraver in 1963 (Arthur is deceased now) It would probably be in the Stockport Cheshire area. It is the occupation and where he worked from that I am trying to find but I don't know if he worked for himself or if he advertised his work Thank You Pam
