Just been on Scotlandspeople looking at the OPR births for some of the Mitchell children.

I am hoping the Jane on the 1841 has been mistranscribed and is actually George b.1825

On George's birth record it shows his parents names John and Ann nee Oliphant and Woodside, which is where they were living at the time of his birth in 1825, so I am presuming this would refer to North Woodside Road on the 1841.

Also on 3 of the births John,George and Robert is the same witness Peter Duncan, I have looked to see if he is related in any way but nothing coming up so far.

Haven't had time to look at the 1841 census yet for Rachel but will do.

Sorry for late reply, laptop playing up ye t again.
Gins, This is the one also Kath , thank you this is them again on the 1851.
ArgylleGra, thank you, I have just looked at the marriage on SP, it is the right one, although not much information regarding parents just showing their names and Williams occupation as Jeweller and residing in Glasgow, I will take a look at the 1841 for Rachel on SP.

Thank you all very much for the help.

This is the only marriage in Lanarkshire 1842-51 of a William Mitchell and a Rachel.

01/02/1846 MITCHELL WILLIAM
RACHEL GIBSON/FR7749 (FR7749) M GLASGOW GLASGOW CITY CITY/LANARK 644/01 0430 0147

If that's the right marriage, then maybe this is Rachel in 1841. She's one of a large number of teenage (up to age 20) girls - maybe a home / workhouse / school / similar?
Credits on SP would let you look at the image of the census document to see the details.

This is another possibility for the 1841 census (unless you know for sure that his mother's name is Ann):-

1841 England, Wales & Scotland Census Transcription
Sinclairs Closs, Bay Street, Port Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Scotland

First name(s) Last name Gender Age Birth year Birth place

John Mitchell Male 60 1781 Ireland
Martha Mitchell Female 50 1791 Ireland

Susan Mitchell Female 20 1821 Renfrewshire, Scotland
Martha Mitchell Female 16 1825 Renfrewshire, Scotland
Easter Mitchell Female 14 1827 Renfrewshire, Scotland

EDIT - Forget this one as there is another William Mitchell in the 1851 census who I think may be this one in the 1841 census.

Can I please have a look up on the 1851 scottish census for William Mitchell b 1819 and wife Rachel living in Glasgow, his occupation is jeweller.

I think I have found him on the 1841 living with his mother Ann and siblings John, Robert and Jane living in North Woodside Road although can't be sure just going by his occupation,

thank you
