I am trying to find the right birth certificate of my great grandfather. I have searched the free BMD page but there are several under his name and have sent for 2 already which were the wrong ones. I was wondering if there is anyway else I can try.

Hello Diane, if you can give us some details we might be able to help.

Have you searched for a baptism (these sometimes give dates of birth).

Have you found him on any census?

Military records can also help.

Can you please give us the full details you have for your great great grandfather and we can then see if we can help.

I note you are researching in Lancashire - if he was born in Lancs there is a good chance we may be able to pinpoint the correct cert for you.

These are two excellent sites you can use:

Hope you have finally found the correct one Diane - the LancsBMD site very often gives the mother's maiden name which helps.

If you need anything further - just ask.
