	of course you really need to purchase the marriage cert, it will tell you her fathers name, and her status. she may well not have been a spinster when she married. another way is, did they have children? you can perhaps begin to clarify things by looking at childrens birth registrations.

	yes, and you're welcome, Pauline unless Matthew went by the name Woods at some point other than birth, marriage and death (and birth of a child, it seems), you seem to have got hold of the wrong end of the stick on his name
