Info sought on Margaret (Maggie) Cowan b 1888 Craigie, Ayrshire, SCT and her sister Jessie Cowan b 30 Oct 1897 Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, SCT. Parents David & Agnes Cowan (nee Young).

Maggie & Jessie arrived in Montreal, CAN on the Letitia sailing from Glasgow, SCT on 30 Aug 1913.

Maggie was 25 and Jessie 16. Both were going as domestics to Canada.

On 3 Oct 1925, Margaret married William Robert Collett in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Toronto, CAN. William was b abt 1887 in Essex, ENG. His parents were John & Thurza Collett.

William Collett served in WW1 and I have his war record. It states he died 9.1.42.

Margaret may have worked at the Toronto Club, Bay & Wellington Sts, Toronto, CAN as a domestic in 1931 when a cousin went from the States to visit her.

This same cousin said that Margaret had no children.

Jessie Cowan married Alexander Sharpe Mackie b 1897 Ayrshire, SCT on 23 Apr 1918 in Hamilton, Wentworth, Ont, CAN. Both Alexander & Jessie were 20 years old.

Jessie's brother John (Jock) Cowan went to Canada late in 1920 and the address he gave was Jessie Mackie, 14 Genoa Street, Toronto. The same address were Alex, Jessie and their 3 children were in the 1921 Canadian Census. Sister Margaret was also living there although she is given as 25 when she would have been about 33.

The ages were wrong for Alex & Jessie and for the first child I believe. The children were Jackie Mackie age 2 male, Pearl Mackie age 3 female and Dorothy? Mackie age 1 female.

A cousin has a photo with Jessie Mackie and 3 children taken in 1927. No names on the photo. He was told that Jessie went on to have 5 children in total.

I would love to know what happened to the Cowan sisters and Jessie's children.
If Jessie did have 5 children surely there would be a good few family members?

If anyone has any information I'd be very grateful. Thank you!
