Sorry to bother you again Gins.

Please would you double check the age and relationship of young Millicent Chandler.

Millicent and Sidney married in 1878 so I can't see how she can be a Step Daughter age 7 in 1891.

Dea

Dea Report 11 Sep 2015 10:31

They have been missed off Ancestry.

The piece no is 915, folio 45, page 30.

Ancestry have page 29 (up to 207 Radcliffe Rd) and then the next page they have is p 31 which is the beginning of Leyton Rd.

It's ok.

I have figured out who Millicent Chandler was. She was actually a Granddaughter.

Thank you Gins.

Me again.

I wonder if anyone can please provide me with further information regarding Thomas Jasper Chandler.

Thomas Jasper Chandler born 1864 Southampton, Hampshire.

The son of the above Millicent Johnson and her first husband William Chandler.

I have all information up to the 1881 census.

Thomas married in 1885

Marriages Sep 1885 (>99%)
Chandler Thomas Jasper Southampton 2c 71
Hodder Anne Jane Southampton 2c 71

2 children

Edith Caroline Chandler in the England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
Name:Edith Caroline Chandler
Gender: Female
Baptism Date:22 Jul 1888
Baptism Place:East Cowes, Hampshire, England
Father: Thomas Jasper Chandler
Mother: Annie Jane

Millicent Annie B Chandler in the England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915
Name:Millicent Annie B Chandler
Registration Year:1886
Registration Quarter:Jul-Aug-Sep
Registration district:Isle of Wight
Inferred County:Hampshire
Volume:2b
Page:604

Millicent is with her Grandmother Millicent Johnson on the 1891 census.(Posted earlier by Gins) Incorrectly transcribed as Step Daughter (I know all about Millicent)

As far as i can see, there is no 1891 census for Thomas, Anne and daughter Edith.

In 1897 Anne remarries

Marriages Jun 1897 (>99%)
Chandler Annie Jane Southampton 2c 72
WAY Frank Southampton 2c 72

Here she is on the 1901 census

Annie Way in the 1901 England Census
Name:Annie Way
Age:34
Estimated birth year:abt 1867
Relation to Head:Wife
Gender:Female
Spouse:Frank Way
Birth Place:Alderney, Channel Islands
Civil Parish:St Mary
Ecclesiastical parish:Holy Trinity
Town:Southampton
County/Island:Hampshire
Country:England

Household Members:

Frank Way 30
Annie Way 34
Edith Chandler 12 (Step Daughter) Isle of Wight
William Chandler 8 (Step Son) Cape Colony___(William Thomas Jasper Chandler)
Lily Way 1

So it would seem then that at some point between 1888 and 1893 Thomas went to South Africa.

Perhaps Thomas died in South Africa? (No death showing on FreeBMD)

I don't have worldwide subs so any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you David.

It would be interesting to know how he died so thank you for that Marie.

I am baffled as to why he went to South Africa in the first place.
