Hi Margee,

The first trip was in 1948 - mother and son travelling together by ship (name: Washington - see earlier info above. No sign of father on that journey. I believe Allan would have been with them on the border crossing in 1953 too. Maybe the record is illegible. I screened a few later/earlier than Peter's and some are barely legible.

Hi AnnCardiff,

No I have not entered another post on this family. This is my only post on the O'Doherty's.

Regards,
Rebecca

Alan doesn't seem to be with them. Do you suppose that he was left behind in England for Ellen's first trip to Canada?

Thanks Margee. I have also indeed just found Peter's border crossing - great - a date of birth and place of birth for him!! Super. I wonder where Allan's border crossing record is???

Super Margee - I didn't have this US border crossing info. And finally I know what Ellen's middle name is and an exact date of birth. Thanks a million.

Dear Margee,

Thanks - indeed this is the info I found too on Ancestry - that's how I knew they had emigrated.

I have just re-checked the voters list I found and you are correct, this should not read Trinity, but YORK, Ontario. I have just edited the post.

Thanks again.

Rebecca

Access to Canadian BMD are far more restrictve than here. You are highly unlikely to find anything on line.
You're best bet would be to search the internet for the peoples names and hope that an article/obituary is one of the results.

You could also search for Cemeteries in the Trinity, Ontario to see if burial details have been transcribed.
This might help you

I'm trying to trace possible death records for the following to persons who emigrated to Canada (York, Ontario) in the late 1940's.

Peter Gerald O'DOHERTY (no birth date - possibly also known as just Gerald O'DOHERTY - a shipper) married to Ellen K SIMMONDS (born 1922 Mile End district, London, UK). I believe they were living at 109 Alameda Avenue, York, Ontario in the 1960's with their son Allan N O'DOHERTY born 1946 Stepney district, London.

I have Ellen K SIMMONDS parents listed as John SIMMONDS and Mary Ann Elizabeth FORD.

Is anyone able to find a marriage record for Allan (or Alan - just one 'l') N O'DOHERTY. I would imagine he married in Canada. Any current address for an Allan N O'DOHERTY would be fantastic. However, maybe there is a death record?

Many thanks for any help.

Regards,
Rebecca
