My 3 x great grandmother Annie Maria Baker born 15 april 1849 died 1935 silvertown west ham mother was Jane Baker no other info on siblings or father could someone help. My grandmother used to tell me the family said Annie Maria's father was a French Count who abandoned Jane!!!! Not sure how much truth there is in that though.

With no father named at Baptism or as is likely on her BC, it's impossible to work out if the French Nobleman story is true.

May be if there are records for her mother on the 1841 census, it might show she was working in a household with a French sounding name.
