If this is the right family there are probable WW1 medal cards and Award Rolls for Alexander (Royal Highlanders - Black Watch) and Frank (Royal Garrison Artillery Highland (Fifeshire) TF)

David Flear Bairner was born in 1906 in St Andrews and St Leonards - credits will allow you to look at the birth certificate which will name his parents and mmn.

A David Mathieson Bairner shows as born in St Andrews and St Leonards shortly after your grandparents marriage.

Looking at the 1901 census for St Andrews and St Leonards I would hazard this is the family - the only Bairners in that area BUT you need the parents names, ages etc from certificates to confirm.

By manipulating the Scotland'sPeople site for free I can see -

The only marriage coming up for a David Bairner and Margaret Mathieson is in the Milton RD of Glasgow City in 1930

You need to buy credits for Scotlands People website as it is Pay as you go - £7 for 30 credits. 1 credit will get you a list of results and for 5 credits you will be able to see and download a copy of the marriage certificate as it is over 75 years ago (100 years for births and 50 years for deaths. Anything more recent and you will be able to order for the Scottish GRO with the reference details given)

The marriage certificate should give full names and ages (so you can look then for births), names of parents including the mothers maiden name. Before that you will be looking at the old parish records which will tell you less.

The 1911 census is only available from SP, as are the originals of the previous census', but commercial sites carry 1841-1901 transcriptions.

Scottish records for this period will be on Scotlandspeople, a pay to view site.

This link explains the charges
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/faqs/index.aspx?42

You ought to be able to find the reg details of your grandparents marriage then either download the image, or send away for the certificate. It will give far more detail than the other ones in the UK.
