PB stands for private baptism (usually when a child is not expected to live)

RA could be Royal Artillery.

Best bet for Military Records is Find my Past. Sorry don't have a sub.

Hi All,
I wonder if someone can help me?

A possible ancestor Susan Manley was baptised on 3 Oct 1876 at Woolwich St Mary Magdalene. It shows James Manley and Susan Manley, as parents of Woolwich.

There are things that I don’t understand about the baptism. What is PB? It is written close to the birth & baptism date. The profession of James Manley says something like Gunner Riding E???? RA or KA?

I can tell you that Susan Manley’s father was married to Susan Adams and that they were married on 12 Apr 1875 at St Mary Magdalene, Woolwich. His occupation is shown as Gunner Royal Horse Artillery.

Did their daughter die young? I haven't been able to find her in the census or death records.

How do I locate James Manley's military records?

Thanking you,

Angela
