Familyfinder Report 31 Aug 2015 20:23

Hi
I'm having a bit of trouble matching some emmbers of a family from 1901 and 1911
_not sure if I have two separate ones -or same-but deaths and marriages have occured in between.

Any comments, extra eyes would be really welcomed.

What I have certain.
In 1911 my ancestor Edward Joseph Corbett, Surgeon and Physician- is living at Fairfield House ,Alphington road, Exeter, Devon. He is married to Florence. (Marriage 1902 JAS EXETER Florence Margaret Pastfield) she's quite a bit younger and they have 2 children.

I know this is def him -I have a birth cert in 1905 for a child at same address.

I think I have him in 1901
But in penzance. He is Surgeon and Dental.and wife called Mary -two different children called Victor and Percy!

I found a possible death for Mary in Exeter shortly after the 1901 census (JAS) which fits.Mary Esther Corbett. Slight age diff. but not vast.

I found again what 'may' be
son Victor at a boarding school in wellington in 1911 - which would make
sense if dad busy and mum died. But cannot find the other boy Percy.

Maybe I'm barking up the wrong one -but I think its the same Edward Corbett.

I know he died in Exeter,Devon at Fairfield House in 1927 as I found his will .

Any help please?

It looks like the same man to me, born in Ireland as was his first wife and the two boys Victor and Percy.
Perhaps Percy was sent back to Ireland with relatives?

Familyfinder Report 31 Aug 2015 21:15

thanks - seems odd though as he took in other peoples children and sent others to house of mercy etc - then sent his away?
nowt so queer as folk.Think I'll order Mary's death cert to clarify.

Hardly a house of charity - Wellington School is/was a very expensive establishment for the sons of the gentry.

oh wow -thats great thanks so much! Have heaps to compile out of all that.

No -I dont have the will -only the probate - looks like I wrongly assumed she would be mentioned?

Probate only names the administrators of the will, not those who are named within it as beneficiaries.
