(PM received, have asked Beverley if she can reply back here, with how far she has got back, and whom!)

Chris :)

Hi Chris!
Apologies for late reply. I know that the family that I am researching, Tabraham/Tabram, came from the village of Wicken in Cambridgeshire. I was just wandering from where they might have come from and how long the family had been in this country. A wild goosechase ??????

Be prepared for name changes, peculiar spellings and Anglicisation! :-D

Also, do be prepared to find Baptisms and Christian church weddings. Some people did convert, or found better employment opportunties if they went through the motions.

As you may already know, the Jewish heritage passes through the female blood line. If a male marries a gentile, their children aren't considered to be Jewish unless their mother has converted before they are born.

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/10821-migration

Found the above by googling for Jewish Migration other sites there also.

Putting in Tabraham in Births here on Genes. It came up with 505 .On second page there was 1 listed as early as 1673

Can only suggest looking at census records to see where there birth place was listed as.

Or maybe your local Synagogue can help.

Try googling Jewish Societies ..as I typed suggestions were shown

Good Luck

Evening everyone!

Does anyone have any tips for chasing up Jewish ancestors? Have just discovered that I have Jewish ancestors, Tabraham/ Tabram, in my family tree. Based in Cambridgeshire. Is there any way that I could find out their pattern of migration?

Any information would be much appreciated.
