You should be able to see his birth cert on this site:

You have to buy credits but they aren't very expensive. When you have his birth cert for his mother's maiden name you can search for his parents' marriage and look for the family on the census. The Irish 1901 & 1911 censuses are free to search and view on this site:

Think we need bit more info. Not seeing that marriage- there is a John Duffin/ Mary McAuley marriage in 1901 Lanark.

If he died in Scotland, his death cert should name both his parents.

Trying to trace my ancestors of my grandfather/great grand parents only know he married Mary Mc Aukey who was born 1884 and they moved to Scotland they had nine children who I know but want to find his previous ancestors.
