I'm afraid it's quite simple, really

The widow found herself another man (or men) and had two further children

A tree on Ancestry gives his death as 1936 but gives son Leslie's birth as 1942 with no explanation. There are photos of Leslie and wife and child and also of James and wife Louisa.

Well if that is his death then the two births are illegitimate

You register a birth in your current name even if you are widowed or divorced but the certs won't show the fathers name. Unless someone wants to lie of course or the biological fathers name is shown so his name will also come up in the same reg nos

In both of the later births there is only the one entry showing so it would be worth getting one of the certs to see what. It says

Who was he to you? Have you any idea where he spent his adult life?

( Married Liverpool 1924 Louisa Goldson)

had 5 childre

Dorothy Hyamson 1932 Liverpool Lancashire

Joyce Hyamson 1943 Liverpool North Lancashire

Louisa Hyamson 1926 Liverpool Lancashire

John R Hyamson 1928 Liverpool Lancashire
