Hello Harry and welcome to the community boards.

He actually died in 1861 and his wife is noted as Jane in the census records. Is this the correct man?

Deaths Dec 1861 (>99%)

Wolfe John E Stonehouse 5b 191

had a son George William Wolfe baptized in 1824 with Jane.

or did your John Wolfe emigrate?

Harry

Harry Report 4 Jun 2015 08:26

Thank you 'Gritty' and 'Astra' for your help. I agree with your correction John Wolfe was married to Jane Colmer. My error. John Wolfe did not emigrate.

I should have requested help with John Wolfe's father my ancestor George Wolfe 1749 – 1820, who married (did not marry?) Mary Williams. I believe Mary died shortly after giving birth to twins, and understand George changed his surname to Wolfe later in his life. That last sentence is unsubstantiated family myth.

There is this death a month later which may or may not be the same Mary.

Is it possible that John and baby Mary were the twins? It is very difficult to know. Being baptized on the same day doesn't prove that they were as people often had batch baptisms of their children.

Thanks Astra, and everyone else, for your help.. I was waiting at a few days in case more information became available. But with so many subsequent threads on the website. I then had difficulty in finding it again, now on page 6!
Thanks again. Your information was most useful. Harry Wolfe

Harry, if you go over to the left side of this page you will see a section headed Tools. Click on My Threads under that heading and a new page opens. You will see in green at the top that you have a choice of clicking on My threads started or My Threads contributed to. If you click on the threads started part, you will be taken straight to any thread that you have started, no need to hunt over several pages.

Alternatively, at the top of this thread, click on the Watch this box. Anytime you want to get back to it (or any other thread you might be interested in and have marked) you can find it by again going to Tools on the left and this time clicking on My watched threads.
