Surely if she had kept the name Ahern, Francis would have been an Ahern and not a Peaford since he would have been illegitimate.

cant find a marriage perhaps they did not marry

Info from someone else's tree always need verifying.
I can't see a marriage either ... but then not all records are online.
I have Irish Catholic ancestors and hardly any of their marriages are available online.

Perhaps you could contact the owner of The Peaford / Denham Family Tree ( The author of this tree asked us to keep it private. Ask them nicely and they might share.)
