Your Arthur was born in 1857 (baptised 05 July...His parents and brother all died in the 80's...but I can't find ANY death for him.

There's an Arthur who seems to "pop up" in 1881 who can be followed through to 1911 census - he's a lace-maker...which sort of ties in with stocking framework knitter...but DOB is 1862

I don't believe it is him...but can't come up with anything better!

He may have had reason to change his name and leave the area??

Manchester Courier and Lancashire General Advertiser 21 January 1882

THE THEFT OF THIRTY YEARS' SAVINGS.

At Nottingham on Saturday, Arthur Selby, frame
work knitter, was charged on remand with stealing
from a cottage at Lambley £162, the savings for 30
years of a single woman named Catherine Cook. The
police reported that search had been made, but that
the money could not be found. The magistrates said
although there were very suspicious circumstances
connected with the case there was no legal evidence
against the prisoner, and they accordingly discharged
him.

Leicester Chronicle 23 April 1898

ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER IN NOTTINGHAM

Arthur Selby, an engine-cleaner, of Lambley, was
remanded at Nottingham, on Saturday, on a charge of
attempting to murder a young woman named Jessie
Shelton, by shooting her with a revolver, at Lambley,
on Wednesday. The girl is wounded on the hand,
face, and head from three different shots. Prisoner,
when arrested, said that the revolver was hers. They
had struggled for it and it went off three times. He
would not have shot her for the world. The weapon,
however, was found on the roof of a pigsty near
prisoner's house, loaded in all six chambers.
